With the RV 120W, Cisco is bringing configuration control and some advanced features that aren’t usually seen in routers found at this price point.

The networking capabilities of the RV 120W provide for both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity. As IPv4 address space is becoming a scarce commodity, having IPv6 capabilities is likely a route that will becoming increasingly common over the next several years. With the RV 120W, Cisco is providing a really nice entry point to IPv6 connectivity, while still providing mechanisms for IPv4 content access.

German broadband network equipment manufacturer AVM has launched the Fritz!Box Fon WLAN 7390, which combines WLAN features, a telephone system, a Dect base, a media server and network storage.

The FRITZ!Box connects all computers with the Internet – at lightning speed using VDSL or ADSL2+! With internal flash memory and fast WLAN N, it is the ideal platform for networked applications such as IPTV, video on demand, and media streaming.

Some hilights of the 7390:

• * Fast Internet thanks to integrated VDSL/ADSL2+ modem
• * Wireless network via WLAN N with up to 300 Mbit/s
• * Suitable for combination with UMTS or cable modem
• * The DECT base station lets you connect up to six cordless telephones

AVM regularly develops new firmware for its FRITZ! products, always free of charge. The next official firmware update for the FRITZ!Box 7390 will bring new features for telephony, WLAN, NAS, IPv6 and USB to your FRITZ!Box 7390.

The other new firmware highlights:

• * Enhanced WLAN sleep mode and parental controls

There are public beta firmwares available for IPv6 support for the models mentioned above. Those firmware’s can be found on the FRITZ!Box IPv6 Lab website.

With the new firmware the FRITZ!Box can be used right away on provider lines that support IPv6, supporting native IPv6 over PPP. What is more, 6to4 technology has been implemented to allow the use of IPv6 on conventional IPv4 lines.

As you can see the IPv6 support is extensive and will most likely provide you with the kind of IPv6 connectivity you need.
