Better Netflix Streaming

Now that Gustavus is IPv6 enabled, students who have subscribed to Netflix streaming services can now do so over our very fast IPv6 network. However to take advantage of this, your computer must have a working IPv6 network connection. See our previous post about IPv6 for more information.

APNIC 14/8 and 223/8

A few days ago APNIC allocated two new /8 from IANA. The allocated blocks are 14.0.0.0. – 14.255.255.255 and 223.0.0.0. – 223.255.255.255.

The depletion of the IPv4 pool is getting close.

Verizon Begins Testing IPv6 on FiOS Services

John Curran writes: Verizon has announced today that its “month-long trial of IPv6 involves FiOS-enabled customer homes with customized CPE—provided by Verizon—that can support both IPv6 and IPv4. The dual protocol setup will also be implemented on Verizon’s edge gateway routers. Verizon employs 6PE technology, which uses IPv6-provider edge routers to connect across the company’s IPv4 MPLS core. The IPv6 traffic is then sent over IPv6-capable peering connections.”

Internode to formally offer consumers IPv6 this year

Internode will offer production IPv6 services to consumers by the end of 2010 as it continues to gain experience through a trial of the next generation Internet Protocol.
